Soul Surf House is a slow-living holiday dream. A self-initiated project reimagining web design for boutique rentals, where stays are more than just a listing on AirBnB.
Imagining a more personal way to introduce unique boutique stays on the web.
An avid traveler myself, I value soulful spaces and heartfelt hospitality. Boutique rentals deserve a space to tell their own story and be the sole focus instead of competing with thousands of other places on sites like AirBnB.
Although AirBnB and the like are helpful to discover new boutique rentals, they are not designed to introduce you to the heart and soul of the place. These spaces are often created by passionate individuals with a keen aesthetic eye and a heart for hospitality and I set out to design a website for a fictional stay on my local coast that would do such a hideaway justice.
The fictional stay has been inspired by real-life friends who run The Good Shepherd’s Hut in Norfolk.
Designing a website as bespoke as your hideaway.
Even though this was a fictional place, I still implemented all the steps of my web design process: Strategy, Wireframes & Content, Design and Development. The design is tactile and imagery-led, creating a visual oasis that reflects the kind of stay you would get at Soul Surf House.
The website was custom-built in Webflow from scratch — ensuring the design is responsive across all screen sizes. The final result was part of my body of work for the Web Design Mastery program with leading website expert Ran Segall.
“It's been amazing watching Joyce at work thinking about how to strategically create a brand and website for this business and then masterfully get the details down to the last pixel just right. I would highly recommend working with her on your next project.”
